“Don’t Dream It’s Over” is a fine song, but I get stuck on “Better Be Home Soon” all the time

  9. S’up Michael, Sorry I’m late to your question but its great to see so many varied responses… As you know they are among my top 5 favorite bands of all time so I appreciate the thought. I was a big fan of the Enz so it was with great interest that I bought the first Crowded album. it was a tumultuous time in my life so I will always hold great affection for any song you mention on the first album, including “I Walk Away” a song that holds the distinction of being both a Enz song and a Crowded song. “Temple of Low Men” is probably my personal favorite, its songs neatly detailing a relationship I was in at the time..I have vivid memories of my sister,Terry and I singing “I Feel Possesed” on a karioke system that I had..

And then there are the shows, so many concerts that I talked myself backstage to.. until Paul Hester and Nick Seymore began inviting me backstage.. Wow they were so nice and I have stories too interesting and lengthy to write about here lol.

Then they went away, what people don’t know is that after the second album they actually broke up.. I had the lightning in a bottle good fortune to win tickets from a radio station to see them on Valentine’s Day on a boat where couples actually got married to the music of Crowded. “Heaven help anyone who gets married to our music” Neil quipped. I got my picture in Rolling Stone Magazine simply because I was standing behind them during that performance!

The “Woodface” period was the most amazing in terms of my interaction with the band.. We saw them a dozen times up and down my state and I have remarkable memories and tons of cool autographed Crowded stuff for memories. The “Woodface” album is the strongest album they did…

To avoid being any more obnoxious I’ll end here with my appreciation to you for everything you’ve done for me the last two months. I have contacts that I thought were cool, but for no reason they just start ignoring me and pretending I don’t excist..

Other than being perplexed by the reasons I really don’t care.. I lost my unmarried partner Terrisa and my mother Kathy to cancer in the same year and after going through that I don’t sweat the silly stuff of life anymore..

The music of Crowded House was the soundtrack for my relationship with Terry and brings back memories of the best times of my life. I’m actually crying now so your question has touched something deep in me, thanks for putting up with my rant here and I hope you consider me a friend.
