I’ve always loved the song and I know all of the lyrics, but I’ve never understood it.

Anybody know?

  1. ? says:

love song dealing with a lover telling their partner that barriers and obstacles may divide them, but they must not stop dreaming and keep moving on.

  2. your_uncle_dodge says:

The song is protesting the state of human affairs. The character is willing to throw away all his worldly possessions for human compassion towards the planet and against war. The character has this song (marching again to the beat of a drum) to show that even though he was down for awhile he’s back protesting, and this time he’s not stopping until he is “feeling of liberation and release”.

One of my favorite songs…love the music to it.
I’m going on youtube right now and listen to it.

  4. Stephen J says:

like what has already been said…its about lover’s overcoming obstacles…but I think there is a lot more to it. There are a lot of references to war, deluge, battles, drums, liberation and relief. It makes you think there is a story line of people scarred and impacted by worldly events such as war and human tragedy. Maybe they are separated and maybe they fight to be reunited.
